I actually used to play in the abyss server, it is truly unforgiving, and you have to take an oath to never speak of what happens down there to play on it which is why there's so little information on it

You said there is no use of camoflauge in the deep sea? What about the fish that glows from the underside to look like light? What about all the red fish and other creatures?

Note for everyone: The reason Anglerfish are the best understood Abyss build is because they are one of the few builds there that have species that live in the less extreme parts of the ocean

I wonder if the mammal clan is just to recently formed, and too new to the ocean servers to have figured out a way to break into the deep ocean servers. Do you think it's possible that some of the ocean based mammals might figure out how to filter oxygen out of the water well enough to do so at some point in the future?

I've actually atempted a deep sea build in one of my previous playthroughs, it is definetly one of the most brutal servers of Outside, you feel like literally everything is out to get you, and you can never let your gard down. But if I were to give you a reason to play there it would definetly be the dead-whale-parties. Man those were great! Easy loot, everyone making friends with one another, rival guilds signing truces, light shows everywhere! It was awesome! Even the predators would give us a break and stop being such tryhards for a while.

                                                          Intelligence: 85
Power: 85 (also inflicts DPS if latched onto an opponent)
                                                          Defense: 20

                                                          Health: 75
                                                          Stealth: 20

                                                          Abilities: Bioluminescence, Ink
                                                          Passive ability: Invisibility

I know it might seem overpowered, but you can't just judge builds by their stats alone. Bears for example have very OP looking stats, but aren't actually OP.

Due to the rotating hooks on its tentacles, colossal squids can inflict DPS (damage per second) if they latch onto an enemy. They have very high intelligence, health and power, but their mobility and defense are pretty low due to their lack of armor and skeleton as well as their low metabolism.

Due to their passive invisibility ability, they have a stealth stat. Since the color red isn't visible in the deep sea, they are essentially invisible unless you have another ability to counter it.

The other 2 abilities, bioluminescence and ink, are pretty simple. They can jet away at a high speed and leave behind a cloud of ink. Due to their low stamina, they can only maintain a high speed for a short period. Their eyes are also bioluminescent, but they aren't used to see. The bioluminescence ability can be used in a number of ways, such as attracting prey, communicating with other squids, and confusing predators.

I'll continue this comment in the replies so it doesn't take up half the comment section.

A very rare trait that is very hard to get and successfully play is the Kraken trait, it will automatically grant you the gigantism trait and give you the ability to go to surface waters for a duration of 10 real time minutes. It is extremely hard to get as it costs an obscene amount of evolution points, about 1000 points. If you are keen on getting it, I recommend doing a few human playthroughs to rank up some points. It also has a huge food requirement, so you must constantly be hunting.

Congratulations if you bothered to read this far, I thought TierZoo was really interesting and I wanted to add some of my own ideas to the concept.
                                                            Also this is epic.

I'd recommend playing as a male, because males typically are more aggressive and have higher power and DPS stats. But if you have a more calm play style, you should play as female because they have higher defense and HP stats due to their larger size.

If you're looking for a build with an easy childhood stage, then this animal is not for you. Since they do not have the parental ability, baby squids will have to fend for themselves. Colossal squids are also cannibalistic, and will eat smaller squids.

A good strategy is to invest your evolution points into size and power, which will result in the gigantism trait. Having the gigantism trait has its own benefits and drawbacks, such as gaining a 25% bonus in intimidation, but requiring more food/EXP to survive. Alternatively, you could invest points in the dwarfism trait: which allows you to live off of less EXP, but makes you easier prey.

A good source of EXP (if you're small) is geothermal vents. These vents attract many small animals to prey on. If you're big, a good EXP source is to hunt other squids and sleeper sharks, especially if you have the gigantism trait.

                                                          • wiLLiam
                                                            wiLLiam  3 weeks back

Since colossal squids have some of the best stats in their environment, they are one of the apex predators. This is also due to their colossal size. They use their large tail fin to propel themselves forward. Since they are related to cockatoo squids, they must raise their tentacles above their heads to look forward. This, combined with their very large and rotund body, gives them a quite comical look.

They mainly prey on large fish, such as the Antarctic toothfish. Colossal squids are also region locked to the deep sea region of the Antarctic server.

                                                            *Strategy guide*

If you are interested in playing or maining the colossal squid, I have a strategy guide for you.

Colossal squids are NOT an invincible powerhouse like popular culture would like you to believe, they require a lot of time to master but are very fun once you do. Unless you are a literal god at playing this animal, or are just extremely lucky, dont even try to win a fight against a sperm whale; you won't win. A strategy I use often is to latch onto the sperm whale for a DPS bonus, and wait until it either swims away or gives up. Once it gives up, use your ink ability to stun it and escape.

I don't recommend teaming up with other squids, as a single sperm whale can use their echolocation ability to find you and wreck your entire team. Sleeper sharks can also destroy you, but colossal squids do have a decent matchup against them. I recommend slashing at them from a short distance and using your ink ability if they get too close.

As a baby and juvenile, you should either eat other squids with a similar size or eat small fish.

Also don't try to go to the surface and attack boats, you WILL die from a lack of pressure. If you go to the surface, you will essentially go blind and have all your stats reduced to 5 due to not being able to function there.

There is one mammal build that thrives in the abyss, which is the very powerful sperm whale build. It has a great matchup with the giant and colossal squids and regularly eliminates them for XP. It’s a very viable build in the deep sea meta
