I have so many thick plastic re usable and regular reusable bags now, 7000 for 1 you say? I'm officially doing about 5 times worse to the environment thanks to that token gesture that gives a few small minded greenies a chubby

The planet doesn't care about us. It'd be a sigh of relief for mother nature once she sneezes us off one day like a sleezy virus. A legacy floating in the ocean for thousands of years until one day the planet starts healing itself. Maybe this time the earth would be crawling with plastic eating species and clean the land, water and air off our habits that once made us "wise and smart". New species would be born and history would remember us as the selfish apes who had everything but it didn't care for the breast it suck on. Therefore, the mother brushed it off so it could mend its mistake and make another specie; someone who's not a fool.

Countless kids taking birth everyday while countless deserving ones in adoption centers starving for love, compassion and security. The epidemic of starvation and obesity is so mind boggling. Religion, culture and nationalism have only separated us from everyone only to punch in the gut with the modern epidemic of loneliness. A "modern" society with a primate intellect.

Anyways, all I wanna say is that we have 10-15yrs to act before we reach the tipping point and there is no going back. I hope we learn from our mistakes before it's too late.

For those of you who just found this video and are terrified, fear not! Here are a few things you can do to reduce your plastic use easily!
                    - replace plastic toothbrushes with ones made from bamboo
                    - buy food in bulk (as long as it isn't perishable)
                    - buy cleaning products that are designed to minimise plastic use (in the UK, you can shop from places like Iron and Velvet, Smol, or Ecover. Not sure about anything outside the UK but a Google search will let you know what's available in your area!)
                    - make your own lunches. Store it in reusable tubs. Also get a thermal mug with a lid. A little extra effort but it saves you moneh
                    - bring your own bags to your local greengrocers when buying fresh fruit and veg.

"But banana! I am but one Youtuber! Surely I can't make a difference?" Yes but remember, he or she who saves one life saves the world eternal. If you can save one turtle from choking on a plastic bag then you have made your contribution to a cleaner world and you can pat yourself on the back! Good luck friends :D

it is true that developing countries in Asia directly or indirectly sent the plastics waste to the ocean, but don't forget developed country like US and Canada have also in the last few years sent (or you could say as "sells") their wastes to the developing countries. So it is some things that make senses that they (developing countries) cannot keep up with their + incoming wastes!
Fun Facts: Since China doesn't accept the waste from developed countries, many south east Asia countries getting illegal waste from developed countries. you can read on the news from Singapore, Malaysia, Philippine, and Indonesia that they sent the trash back to their country of origins...

The only subject missing is how most consumer plastics are infinitely recyclable. We can collect all of the oceans plastic pollution, and still be able to recycle and reuse over 90% of it. The only plastics that are not recyclable or reusable and cause more harm than good, are ironically... biodegradable plastics. It is also the most viable substitute for natural resources like metals and minerals; and by far the best use of crude oil possible.

Also, most consumer plastics are inherently inert, hypoallergenic, safe and even consumable like medicinal oral gel caps, beauty products, food binders, glycerin and food grade polyethylene glycol... it is some of unnecessary additives, like BPA, benzines, and colorants introduced during product manufacturing that are harmful.

Plastics in the Postal industry have contributed the most significant reductions to global deforestation. Plastics are also the single most contributing factor to the cost reduction, mass availability and shelf life extension of medications, availability and affordability of vehicles, computers and electronics to the world, revolutionized food and beverage preservation, and most importantly, the global distribution and delivery of clean water.

The problem is not plastics. But, the miseducation, recycling and sustainability of such a precious resource. Instead of banning plastics itself, BAN THE DISPOSAL OF PLASTICS.

Plus what ever foods that come in plastic wrapping, he washes them after they have been used and put them in the plastic bag and puts them in the recycling bin at our apartment. My dad is an eco-protector.
