I like how Kurzgesagt acknowledges that all people, including antivaxxers, want the best for their children. The thing is tho that not vaccinating isn't only bad for your children, it can seriously damage or kill them and others too! It's really depressing that some people would choose fraudulent internet conspiracies with fake or misunderstood evidence than actually trust people who's jobs it is to save lives.

So if u survive measles, ur pretty much immune to it. That makes me think that I would what to experience all the bad diseases and sicknesses etc so I’m immune to them

                    Vary Olla  2 days back

Except that many do not survive.  In 2017 as an example measles is estimated to have killed around 110,000 people worldwide.  Measles is also one of the leading causes of childhood blindness as well as can cause issues such a deafness etc..  In the time before a measles vaccine we used to see in the US each year hundreds of thousands catch it.  Of those tens of thousands would end up hospitalized while thousands would develop encephalitis resulting in possible neurocognitive damage.  Hundreds would ultimately die despite access to modern healthcare = each year.

Meanwhile the MeV measles virus causes more than a rash.  It infects the lymphatic system and disrupts the dendritic cells responsible for antibody activation.  That results in impaired immune response to infections.  So a child who catches measles and is lucky enough to survive = will be at a greater risk for secondary infections post-measles for a period of weeks to months until those damaged cells are replaced by the body.

That means you could survive measles and then succumb to something else such as pneumonia etc. a few weeks later.  So you might want to rethink your position as vaccines give you the same immunity = yet are infinitely more safe with less chance of severe reaction than the alternative.  Have a nice day.

Wrong = a dubious assertion which you should know dates back at least a century.  The "hygiene myth" has been around for a looooong time now and has only recently been "re-packed" by the anti-vaccination industry as yet another aspect from which to attack vaccination science.

So we still saw irrespective of advances in things like public sewage and hygiene infectious disease pathogens sweeping through populations.  As this video references measles = let's look at that.  The MeV measles virus is one of the most infectious on the planet with an R0 rating of 12-18 = or 2-3X that of other infectious diseases.  If an infected person was in a room with say 10 unvaccinated people we could expect to see 7 or more of them develop measles as a result of *AIRBORNE* exposure alone.

Note I said airborne.  Many infectious diseases we see today are spread via airborne transmission = which is not impacted by things like hygiene in the least.  An infected person can cough on someone in the cleanest room imaginable and they can still infect others.  So the hygiene claim is a silly if misguided assertion as people have been taking baths for millennia while the advent of sewage systems and running water dates back to at least the time of the Romans.

Historical incidence of infectious pathogens is a matter of epidemiological fact.  The only action with a demonstrated ability to reduce that incidence = implementation of vaccines. Have a nice day.

                                    • Albert W
                                      Albert W  1 weeks back

@Vary Olla The drop in the number of patients with measles began well before vaccines. It is related to the improvement of human hygiene.

                                    • Vary Olla
                                      Vary Olla  1 weeks back

In the time before a measles vaccine we used to see:

1 - the number of cases *EACH YEAR* was counted in the hundreds of thousands.
2 - of those tens of thousands would end up hospitalized.
3 - of those hospitalized thousands would develop encephalitis.
4 - of those hundreds would die despite access to modern healthcare.
5 - 1-4 does not even reflect those who subsequently developed neurocognitive impairments as a result of that brain inflammation let alone things like deafness or blindness - measles is one of the leading causes of childhood blindness in the world.

Now look at the actual impact of measles as noted above = again each year.  Consider the costs - either directly for medical care - as well as societal costs as all those sick people had to be cared for meaning parents missing work etc..  *THAT* is the true impact of infectious diseases such as measles.  Not so "mild" after all when one sees the real larger picture rather than only what one wants to see. Have a nice day.

I care that the television series represented societal attitudes to the disease at a time before the vaccine... and people weren’t running scared like this video makes out they should have been.

Most people who came down with measles in development countries before the vaccine did not even seek medical attention. What does THAT tell you about this video. 90% did not require hospital care.

That means that measles serves as a bellwether for infectious disease epidemiology given that high infectability capacity as measles would be one of the first diseases we see breakout as herd immunity began to breakdown among the general population = which coincidentally we are seeing play out in real time today.  Have a nice day.

Same disease = yet different survivability outcomes.  Answer:  the US and Europe have much better healthcare systems = thus a lower mortality rate.  Does that make Ebola "less dangerous"???  - nope.  Perhaps you should stick to watching television and leave science and medicine to those who understand it better.  Have a nice day.

While acetaminophen and vaccines are different in that one is given to treat an infection and the other is intended to prevent it, deaths from either are tragic. Yet, you don't see public health emergencies being called over acetaminophen deaths.

Case in point: In April 2019, New York City declared a public health emergency due to a measles outbreak in Brooklyn and Queens, which involved just over 400 cases and zero deaths.14

Despite the clear lack of "emergency," this was then used as an impetus to implement mandatory MMR vaccination for people living in certain zip codes (11205, 11206, 11211, 11249) in the state. The Health Department went so far as to state that if a person with measles is identified in those zip codes, or an unvaccinated child is exposed to measles, a fine of $1,000 would be issued.15

And, this wasn't just an idle threat: By the end of April, New York City health officials had closed at least seven Jewish schools for failing to provide vaccination and attendance records of their students. The officials also issued summonses to 57 people for failing to abide by the order to vaccinate — with warnings that each one could be ordered to pay the fine.16

                                                                    • Gary Faulkner

@EpicChris The encephalopathies associated with vaccinations may range from overt neurological disease to high pitched crying (commonly seen after vaccination), which is not often recognized as brain damage. In other words, the child is just "reacting to the needle".

It is "normal" to be afraid of shots. But what they are missing is the diagnosis of overt neuropathy, encephalitis or brain dysfunction, because high pitched crying is not normal. Brain damage from vaccines is epidemic and yet, doctors are slow to diagnose neurological disorders (in US) when vaccinations are at stake but we see many citations linking changes (for the worse) after vaccinations are given.

Ted Koren, DC stated, "Dyslexia, minimal brain damage, ADD, autism, allergies, visual and many other neurologic diseases grouped together as "developmental disabilities," barely existed before mass vaccination programs. Probably twenty percent of American children-one youngster in five-suffers from a 'developmental disability.' This is a stupefying figure Developmental disabilities" are nearly always generated by encephalitis. And the primary cause of encephalitis in the United States and other industrialized countries is the childhood vaccination program.

To be specific, a large proportion of the millions of U.S. children and adults suffering from autism, seizures, mental retardation, hyperactivity, dyslexia, and other developmental disabilities, owe their disorders to one or another of the vaccines against childhood diseases." [Emphasis mine.]

Some 40-50 years ago children were not vaccinated until they were ready for the first grade at age 6. Neurological disorders were very uncommon then. Today, children are vaccinated at birth for HiB and begin their long vaccination-journey at 2 months of age, before the blood brain barrier is fully developed. A review of the medical literature around the world will turn up many articles linking vaccinations with many neurological disorders. Before the 1940s, autism was extremely rare or unheard of. Then in the mid-1940s we began a massive vaccination programs and autism was "born". At first, it only occurred in the children of wealthy parents, since vaccinations were not free or government sponsored like today. Later autism became a disease of all classes (with government-sponsored vaccine programs).

The psychiatrists had a hay-day with autism and at first they called it the "Refrigerator-Mother Syndrome". They said the mother had a "cold" heart causing the child to be autistic and withdrawn. Yet, studies did not support this theory, since many families had only one autistic child among several normal children. The point they missed was that it was the Doctor's cold needles that caused the problem, not the mother's cold heart.

"The strongest link was between measles virus antibodies and anti-MBP, suggesting that exposure to the measles virus may cause the immune systems of children with autism to attack myelin," Singh said. Children with autism produce anti-bodies against their own brain, making autism an auto-immune condition. "Singh compiled a nonscientific, anecdotal survey of 88 autistic children whose families have contacted him. Of those, 51 percent said symptoms of autism began shortly after the MMR vaccination, and 36 percent said the problems started days after the DPT shot." Anecdotal evidence over-whelmingly points to vaccines as causing autism. The connect between autism and vaccinations can not be denied.

The neurological disorders associated with vaccinations are diverse and numerous. Vaccinations lower IQ as well as contribute to the overt mental disorders and neurological diseases .

The relationship of vaccinations to encephalopathies and neurological diseases have been surfacing in medical journals since the advent of mass vaccination programs. Autism was unheard of before vaccinations, and parallel mass vaccination programs very nicely. ADD and learning disorders in children are now being traced to childhood vaccinations, as well as convulsions, paralysis, and epilepsy. Brain damage is by far the most common adverse reaction associated with vaccinations, although their actual numbers are not often reported correctly.

Then it would be easier to point out where the problem lies, when a vaccine gives a side effect. And of course understand if the patient has a weak immune system beforehand.

I guess the problem lies in the process at the pharmacy where a specific cell is used to produce the antigen that make up the vaccine..

It's true that by the time of the vaccine said care had drastically reduced the death tolls in devloped countries although even without death it could still cause any number of potentially life long compilations and it was killing hundreds a year even with the best care. In poorer areas where it was allowed to run it's course naturally in many cases the death tolls were vastly higher, it was killing millions per year, but yeah "totally harmless".
